Father Bruce Barnett received a B.S. in 1979 and M.S. in 1981 in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University and was an engineer for 35 years. He was formerly married and has two daughters, both married and living in Charleston. He taught RCIA, served on the Summerville Catholic School Advisory Board and coordinated mentoring programs for various Charleston schools for 28 years. He entered the Permanent Diaconate program before Jesus called him to the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. He received his Masters of Divinity degree from Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Boston in 2019 and was ordained in the Diocese of Charleston on June 7, 2019. He served as Parochial Vicar for one year at Saint Gregory the Great in Bluffton before being named Administrator of Sacred Heart in Gaffney and Saint Augustine in Union in October 2020. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, sports and the outdoors. “Never underestimate God’s generosity and always remember - his plans for you are bigger than your plans for yourself.
